National HIV Testing and Condom Campaign for MSM
The first national HIV campaign since the 1980s.
A key priority in the Scottish Government’s HIV Action Plan is to increase HIV awareness among men who have sex with men. The first phase of the three-year approach aims to promote HIV testing and to reinforce condom use. A strong raft of materials have been produced based on current research and market testing, with particular attention being paid to the views of men living with HIV. This collaboration of NHS Health Scotland with HIV Scotland provides comprehensive information on your sexual health and HIV related needs and the services available in Scotland.

Public leaflets and posters for use in venues and health settings across Scotland
Professional briefings to back up the campaign
A website linked to HIV Scotland with more detailed information and ‘service finder’
It is crucial that the campaign is relevant to and inclusive of people living with HIV in Scotland, and HIV Scotland has kept this on the agenda. Targetted campaigns are seldom viewed only by the specific audience. In this instance, the campaign’s reach and impact, for example, on men generally as well as on gay men specifically, or on Africans living with HIV could be an added benefit. Information is seldom relevant only to one group. Your views and impressions of this campaign help to inform planning and thinking for future work, so please let HIV Scotland know what you think.
